Pedro Coquenão is known by his work as Batida. Is the author of the two albums, released by the referential Soundway Records, that received lots of good reviews and compliments on the press and were celebrated on some of the best stages in the world. Glastonbury, Roskilde, Pitch, Lowlands or Eurockéennes are just a few examples from a big list of festivals where he played live. The show on one of the biggest Portuguese festivals in 2015, Nós Alive, was pointed by the French magazine Les InRockuptibles, as one of the best shows of the year.

Batida DJ Sets are rare, but one of them turned him in the first Portuguese and Angolan to star in a Boilerroom session where he have been 5 times since then, twice in London, Paris, and the most recent ones in Lisbon. His songs and collaborations are in different label catalogs as the own Soundway, Crammed Discs, Fabric, Man Recordings or BBE.

On the press was highlighted in publications as The Guardian or DJ Mag, being pointed as a relevant element of the electronic music new generation.

On the end of 2014 was invited to open four shows for Stromae’s arena tour in Paris, Bruxelas, Amesterdão and Rennes. It was also that year that Pedro remixed “Heavy Seas of Love”, one of the songs from Damon Albarn’s first solo album, in which Brian Eno also features.

Recently Pedro co-produced the new Konono Nº1 album along with Vincent Kenis, the band original producer, that was released this April. “Konono Nº1 Meets Batida”, reached number one at the CMJ, the United States College Radio Chart.

2016 started with an invitation for two DJ Sets on the Brazilian Carnival, one in São Paulo and another in Recife on the Rec Beat Festival.
